PODCAST: Interview with James McBride, Author of National Book Award Fiction Winner The Good Lord Bird

The Good Lord BirdI recently interviewed James McBride, author of National Book Award 2013 Fiction Winner  The Good Lord BirdThe Good Lord Bird is a fictional memoir of a young slave that inadvertently joins abolitionist John Brown’s antislavery crusade in 1857. This dramatic story is told with more than a touch of satire as McBride humanizes through humor John Brown and the great black abolitionist Fredrick Douglas, who makes a cameo appearance.  McBride will be performing (he’s also a musician) and reading at the Texas Book Festival.  To listen to the interview click here:

Great Review….I wish James had talked a little about some of his other books.
