Texas Book Festival, HARD Goals Book Focus of December 12 KAZI Book Review
Our guests today on KAZI Book Review are Heidi Marquez Smith, executive director of the Texas Book Festival, and Mark Murphy, author of Hard Goals: The Secret to Getting From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. Stay tuned.
The Texas Book Festival celebrated its 15th anniversary this year with a star-studded lineup of 226 authors, including Laura W. Bush, the honorary chair and founder of the Book Festival. Other headlining authors that participated in the Texas Book Festival included Pulitzer prize-winning authors Eugene Robinson, author of Disintegration: The Splintering of Black America and Isabel Wilkerson, author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration, and Michael Cunningham, author of By Nightfall.
In addition to the annual festival, TBF also:
- provides grants to Texas public libraries,
- brings in authors from across the country to present their works to students in economically-disadvantaged public schools,
- sponsors an annual fiction writing contests for 7th – 12 graders in Texas.
In Hard Goals, Murphy proclaims anyone can achieve extraordinary things, but the secret is setting goals that test the very limits of your abilities.
